LANSING, Mich. (WILX)- It may just be the moment Lansing residents have been waiting for: the reopening of Mr. Taco in Lansing.
WILX just tracked down the owner Bill Bonofiglo who confirms he plans to open soon, likely before the end of the year, and is holding interviews this weekend.
It has been a long time coming. More than two years ago, Bonofiglo posted on Facebook that he would be reopening Mr. Taco in its former location on Martin Luther King in Lansing. The news delighted fans of the red-all meat burrito.
But there were legal issues over the recipes and Bonofiglo filed a lawsuit in 2016. He now says he is ready to open and says customers can expect the same recipes including the red all-meat burritos and homemade taco sauce.
Bonofiglo posted an alert in his Facebook group notifying the community that he is holding interviews this weekend. The press release says, "Do you think being part of a historic comeback is worth being part of? Can you show up on time, be an asset, treat others with respect, pull the line, etc. because you know the person next to you will do the same for you? That’s a team. That’s Mr. Taco. That’s our culture."
He confirms to WILX that he wrote the press release. A WILX worker stopped by the restaurant this morning and work is underway inside. Bonofiglo tells us he plans to have booths available tomorrow for people to sit down to fill out applications.
Anyone interested in applying should show up in person to fill out an application. Positions available include management, crew ( cooks, counter, dishwashers, cleaning). The time to go is between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m, Saturday November 11, and Sunday November 12th. Mr. Taco is located at 3122 South Martin Luther King Blvd, Lansing.
