Michigan civil rights agency condemns 'no foreigners' sign

MASON, Mich. (WILX) -- A Mason man is facing a complaint from the State's Department of Civil Rights after he put up a sign advertising the sale of his home that indicates he won't sell to foreigners.

The sign in front of Iraq veteran James Prater's home says "terms no foreigners Iraq vet" next to a "for sale by owner" sign.

The civil rights department says the sign violates state and federal laws against discrimination based on national origin.

News 10 reached out to Prater for comment, but haven't heard back.
