CHICAGO, IL (WILX) -- More than one-thousand Christmas trees arrived at Navy Pier in Chicago via the Coast Guard Mackinaw Friday morning.
A total of 12-hundred trees traveled from Mackinaw, Michigan to the city.
They were purchased by Chicago's Christmas ship committee to be given to families in need.
This is an annual tradition that started back in the late 1800's.
An official ceremony for the Christmas trees will take place Saturday morning in Chicago.
