LANSING, Mich. (WILX) Lansing police issue a warning about a new phone scam making the rounds in Lansing.

Police say a man claiming to be a LPD detective is calling people and informing them they have an unpaid traffic ticket. The scammer then asks the person to take care of the ticket over the phone with a credit card. Do not fall for this. If you get this call, hang up.

Lansing police officers do not call on any traffic issues. Police say all tickets and other traffic matters are handled through the 54-A District Court.
