Lansing, Mich (WILX) -- The annual BWL Chili Cook-off is back for another year. The event is in its 21st year and will take place this year on Friday, October 7 at Adado Riverfront Park from 5:30-9:00 PM.
Tickets for the event can be purchased through the BWL website and range from $5.00-$10.00. People can purchase a Chili Fast Pass for an extra fee which allows them to get into the park 30 minutes early. a. Proceeds for the event go to the Impression 5 Science Center, Lansing Promise/HOPE Scholarship, and the Sparrow Foundation. Proceeds from the sale of the Chili Fast Pass will support the Wounded Warrior Project.
The chili cook-off has a football theme this year, and over 40 local vendors will be at the park offering samples of their homemade chili. The recipes will range from mild to spicy to appeal to a wide range of people. The vendors include local restaurants, non-profit organizations, and businesses from around the area.
Vendors will make 40 gallons of chili each, and will be competing for several awards, including People’s Choice award, Hottest Chili, Best Salsa and others. There will also be side dishes and desserts like corn bread, salsa, and pie, available from other vendors in the park.
There will be music from local musicians and bands throughout the event, a merchandise tent, and a chili dog eating contest. News 10's Andy Provenzano and Ann Emmerich will be acting as emcees during the cookoff. WILX News 10 will also be giving away over 500 aprons to chili cook-off attendees at the WILX booth at the event.
