Holt charity that helps students receives big donation

Just in time for the back to school season, a big donation will benefit a local charity that helps students.

Thursday the Woman Who Care Group presented a more than $22,000 check to the Give-A-Kid Organization in Holt.

The charity helps buy backpacks, school supplies and Christmas gifts for children in the Holt district.

It also runs a coat drive for families throughout the Greater Lansing Area.

The money will go towards fixing drainage problems at their building.

"We have water that keeps coming in and now we're dealing with mold" said Cris Hummel, President of Give-A-Kid Projects. "100 plus women who care actually saw that we were definitely in need and said yes, we will be glad to help you out."

The 11 plus Women Who Care donate to various local charities several times a year.
