We've always been told it's a good to eat a variety of foods, but that may not be the best advice after all.

Doctors with the America Heart Association say there's no proof that a diverse diet is healthy.

In fact, a variety of food options in a meal may delay the feeling of fullness, so people end up eating more.

So instead of emphasizing variety, the American Heart Association recommends nutritious, plant-based foods and limiting red meat, sweets and sugary beverages.
