Grass Lake Choir Broadway Bound

GRASS LAKE, Mich. (WILX)-- Local students are getting ready for the limelight as they take the stage performing popular Broadway tunes. News 10 Today anchor Lora Painter talks with high school choir members in Grass Lake as they prepare for this weekend's big concert.

Michael Klave, a junior at Grass Lake HS, said, "It's not necessarily what I would think of when I think of a choir
concert."

That's because the concert is full of surprises. It's a Broadway-style show with songs from some popular musicals-- including a 15 minute medley from "Les Miserables." But what makes this concert unique is each student get their own chance to shine with solo performances; plus more surprises like punk music and the choir director Kristi Stevens will take the stage.

Kavle said, "There's a little bit for everyone."

Many of the students, such as Emily Prentice, a sophomore at Grass Lake, also perform with the school's marching and concert band.

Prentice said, "I think it's really cool. all of us have really grown together and honestly it's just one big choir family, one big band family, and big music family."

The concert is Sunday, November 12th at 2:00pm at Grass Lake High School. Tickets are free.
