Equifax breach bigger

NBC News (NBC) - Equifax says an additional 2.4 million Americans were impacted by last year's cyber-security breach.

The credit reporting agency says an ongoing analysis of the data breach confirms that names and partial driver's license numbers were stolen.

The breach did not include consumers' home addresses, their driver's license states, dates of issuance or expiration dates.

The original breach affected 145.5 million Americans whose social security numbers were compromised.

Today's newly identified consumers were not previously informed because their social security numbers were not stolen together with their partial driver's license information.

Equifax says it will notify the newly identified consumers directly and will offer identity theft protection and credit file monitoring services at no cost.
