Driver hospitalized after vehicle crashes into tree, catches fire

WILLIAMSTOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WILX) - A stretch of road in Williamstown Township is closed as first responders conduct an accident investigation.

First responders were called to the 300 block of Germany Road, between Meridian Road and Hart Road, around 6:30 p.m. Sunday night on reports a vehicle left the road and hit a tree.

Police on scene tell News 10 the car crashed and caught fire.

One person was inside the vehicle at the time of the crash.

Police described the driver as a young female who was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

She was taken to the hospital where her condition is not known at this time.

Police suspect the driver was intoxicated.

The investigation continues.
