NASA: Don't throw away your solar eclipse glasses

By  |

The 2017 Solar Eclipse is over. And many are wondering now what to do with their eclipse glasses.

NASA says do not throw them out. As long as the glasses were made by one of the 12 companies certified by NASA to make eclipse glasses, they are good for life. Which means if you hang onto them, you are all set for any future solar eclipses. The next one is on April 8, 2024.

If you do just want to get rid of them, various environmental groups are urging people to recycle them. The lenses can be popped up and recycled for camera film.
