MASON, Mich. (WILX) - It may be hard to think that snow is around the corner - but, we live in Michigan and snow and cold temps are a part of life.
The Ingham County Animal Control (ICAC) needs help keeping their dogs safe from the colder temps. They have sent out an announcement looking for dog houses and they need them before the cold weather hits.
The ICAC provides the dog houses to low income households that have outdoor pets. The dog houses are typically donated from the community or purchased with donated funds. They also provide straw to keep the animals warm and dry.
If you have a dog house you are no longer using and would like to donate it to the shelter for this community program, please contact Kate Turner at 517-676-8318. Dog houses can be brought to the shelter in Mason (600 Curtis St.) or the Outreach Center in Lansing (826 W. Saginaw), or arrangements can be made to have the dog house picked up. If you would like to donate to the shelter to purchase more dog houses, please go to www.icasfund.org to donate online.
