Home damaged by fire, couple escapes unharmed

JACKSON, Mich. (WILX) - UPDATE: Multiple fire departments were called to the scene of a house fire in Jackson Sunday afternoon.

Crews responded to the 1200 block of West Mansion Street around 11:23 in the morning.

The homeowner tells News 10 he and his wife were home at the time of the fire. They were able to escape unharmed. The homeowner had lived in the house for over 20 years. The homeowner also ran his business from the home.

They believe the fire was accidental and that it started in the attic area. Fire crews were working to save portions of the home, however, have not determined if the home was a total loss.

Blackman Leoni Township, Jackson, Spring Arbor Fire, and Summit Township fire departments responded to the scene.
