American Airlines is making progress in a snag that left thousands of flights without pilots around the holidays.

The airline says only a few hundred of its late December flights remain, thanks to pilots who are picking up extra flights and other pilots who were on call.

The Pilots Union had said, more than 15,000 flights did not have a captain, co-captain or both when a problem was discovered in the company's scheduling system.
