2 hurt, several pigs killed in crash involving semi

HANOVER TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WILX) -- A woman was in critical condition and several pigs died Wednesday following a crash involving an SUV and semitrailer hauling pigs in Jackson County.

The Jackson County Sheriff's Office says just after 2:30 p.m. the woman in the SUV was driving on Hanover Road when she reportedly stopped and then pulled into the path of the semi traveling on Moscow Road in Hanover Township.

Police at the scene said the woman's injuries are critical. The truck driver was said to have minor injuries. Both were transported to Henry Ford Allegiance Health.

Several of the pigs died or had to be euthanized following the crash. Several people in the area helped round up several other pigs who were on the loose.

The Jackson County Sheriff's Office tells News 10 more information regarding the crash will be available later Wednesday.
