Tom Reich - Candidate profile for Eaton County Sheriff

By  |

"Hello. I am Eaton County Sheriff Tom Reich. As your sheriff I have worked with our highly-trained effective team of deputies to restore the Eaton County Sheriff's Office to a collaborative department that once again works closely with the Michigan State Police and our local law enforcement colleagues across the region. I'm running for reelection because I believe in the people of Eaton County and in the people who work for and with the sheriff's office. Together we have worked hard to make and keep Eaton County safe. In just 4 short years we've reduced assault and property crime and implemented new technology to help arrest violent offenders. We became the first larger department in the region to implement and require body-worn cameras for all patrol deputies and to deploy NARCAN overdose-reversing kits on patrol, which has saved lives. Defribrilators, AEDs, are now also in our patrol cars because as first responders protection of life is our highest priority. We have conducted new, nationally-recommended training programs such as fair and impartial policing, which addresses implicit bias and verbal defense and influence, addressing conflict management and there have been many more positive changes with more to come. It is difficult to be a law-enforcement officers today but as I continue to meet with and talk to Eaton County residents I am confident together we will continue to build a positive relationships between a community and law enforcement just like we have done for the past 4 years. Public safety is the foundation of a strong community from strategic patrol and effective investigations, from training to technology and everything in between. I am committed to working for and with you to create the safest community in the state with the best-trained deputies in Michigan. I am counting on your vote on November 8th and together we will keep Eaton County safe. To learn more about our positive impact in the community visit www.tomreichforsheriff.com. Thank you."
