Carla Bayron joined News 10 as a reporter/producer in January 2018.
She is from Palm Harbor, Florida, which is about 45 minutes west of Tampa. Having only lived in Florida, moving to Michigan was a big deal. But she’s pleased to know there are many beautiful beaches all around the Great Lakes State!
She graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Telecommunications. (Go Gators!)
She has worked as an anchor and one-woman-band reporter in Southwest and North Central Florida. As a reporter at WCJB TV20 News in Gainesville, FL, Carla earned a Florida Associated Press Award in Breaking News reporting. She has also interned at WESH 2 News in Orlando and Fox 13 in Tampa.
Carla loves being a journalist because she loves to write, and her stories can impact people’s lives in a positive way. She’s passionate about veteran affairs as her older brother is a proud member of the US Army.
Growing up with a Puerto Rican family, Carla enjoys eating Puerto Rican food such as pasteles, tostones, and mofongo. But it wouldn’t be unusual to find her in a restaurant also enjoying Asian cuisine.
She can’t wait to explore her new home state of Michigan!
