Ken Houston is an anchor/reporter for WILX News 10.
Ken joined WILX News 10 in March of 2015 to bring viewers the news weeknights at 5, 6 and 11. He is committed to finding stories to report on that make a difference in viewer's lives.
He attended the University of Kansas, where he majored in radio, television and film. His career started in his hometown of Kansas City, but has taken him to places such as California, Tennessee and New York, just to name a few.
One of his most memorable assignments was reporting live from Nashville; the center of the much disputed Gore vs.Bush 2000 presidential race. Wall-to-wall coverage of the 9/11 attacks in New York changed his life and approach towards news forever. Another assignment gave Ken the opportunity to cover took him to Morocco for a week-long series to report on the politics, religion, entertainment and food of that country. The food alone was worth the trip.
During his career, he has been honored to receive various awards and recognitions for reporting and community involvement. He likes to give back to the community by giving motivational speeches to students and youth groups. He thinks there's nothing more rewarding than helping a person find their purpose. Just ask his son. He tries out his speeches on him first. As for his wife of nearly 25 years, Tracey, she's always very supportive. He calls her his biggest cheerleader. He says she's the best.
In his spare time, he loves going to the theater for the latest movie or a live stage production and checking out new restaurants. He also enjoys singing when he can get someone to listen. Now that you know a little about Ken, he would like to hear from viewers. He welcomes your story ideas.
