East Lansing's Clock Tower and the eyes of local children lit up at this year's Winter Glow. From 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. this evening a portion of the M.A.C ave. and Collingwood ave. intersection was blocked off for the free event.

Event Coordinator Ami Van Antwerp says, "The City puts this event on as just sort of as a celebration of winter. We kind of have a history of putting on free events, and this is one of the very few free outdoor events we do in the winter."

Activities included visits with Santa and his reindeer, ice sculpting, marshmallow roasting, chestnut tasting and more. For the adults, vendors from the East Lansing Farmer's Market set up shop to provide families with all the necessary Michigan products for their holiday meals. Also new this year, candles were placed along the downtown sidewalks and lit at 5:00 p.m. to make the event even more cozy.

"There's been a lot of people who've come out. We couldn't have asked for better weather, and so far the feed back has been very positive."

As you're getting ready to replace your 2011 calendar with 2012's, you can mark the date for East Lansing's next Winter Glow, which has already been set for December 1.
