Trash Walk
Jackson, MI: First Street between Michigan Avenue and Morrell Street Meet at the corner of First Street and Washington Ave
Susan Murdie, candidate for Jackson City Council, announces the first of six Trash Walks to be held within the Fifth Ward in downtown Jackson. “Let’s clean up our city!” says Susan.
This treasure chest of lovely old homes is nestled in the Under the Oaks Historic District. Jackson is at risk of losing these architectural gems if they continue to deteriorate. This is an opportunity for Jackson residents who value Jackson’s history to pitch in and help spruce up the streetscape around them, and to learn a little bit about these lovely homes and their history.
Residents and volunteers will pick up litter in the street and in the parkways the length of First Street between Michigan Avenue and Morrell Street. Trash bags, recycling bins, safety vests, and gloves will be provided.
There will be refreshments and prizes at the check-in table at the corner of First Street and Washington Avenue.
Voter registration forms and absentee ballot applications will be available at the table.
Everyone is welcome. There are ways to help even if you don’t want to pick up trash.
