Bottom of the Barrel

Seriously, has cable news run out of analysts?

I was zipping around the internets and ran across the most amazing sight: Steven A. Smith appearing as a political analyst on Larry King Live.

Say what?

In case you don't know, Steven A Smith is the guy who used to be on ESPN and is now on Fox Sports Radio.  When he was hired at ESPN, a focus group was so angered and aphalled at his tape that he got outrageous reviews.  And not in a good way.  However, the ESPN brass thought that because people hated him so much they would watch him.  Well, they were half right.  They watched, got angry, then stopped watching.  So, Smith went from NBA analyst to talk show host to leaving ESPN and now to the radio.  All while holding onto his sports columnist job at the Philadelphia Inquirer, I believe.

And now someone thinks he's a political consultant.

In his defense, he has toned it down a little and actually is right, but pontificating about Obama and the ramifications of the mid-term elections?  Please.  Somebody, anybody, please, let this guy just go away.

I watch WILX for news, but when your station advertises it's news service during the news broadcast, it is really hard to figure out what is news and what is advertising, could you at least slap a date on the news being told on the ad so that we know it's an ad not "new" news?
