News 10 has a Twitter account. Maybe you haven't heard about that, but 395 other people have. That's how many are following it and the tweets. I don't know if anyone does it individually like David or Tim or Andy, but now I do. It appears pretty boring right now-- all the Tweets are stories that are posted on wilx.com. That doesn't offer any insight. But maybe a little commentary from the 11 p.m. anchor will. I think it's more than a little dangerous to turn me loose in a stream-of-consciousness kind of way-- even on the Internet. With the blog, there's some forethought and insight given as to what I will actually publish, but the Tweets are an instant message as to what's going on.
"The Executive Producer just raced to the bathroom... stay tuned to see if he makes it."
That's something I would probably Tweeter. And probably get in trouble for the next day. The idea is to Tweety during the newscast at 11, which I did for the first time last night. But that also makes me wonder what I should and should not share.
"I just berated the floor director for making an honest mistake and now she's crying. I'm trying hard not to laugh at her anguish."
See, I'd probably leave that out. I don't want people to know how mean I am. Plus, I have to keep an eye on the number of characters-- you can only use 140. So, I gave it a whirl last night. You can check it out at twitter.com/news10at11 and join the fun. You can also find me as one of wilxTV's followers. If this is out of whack, sorry, I'm still learning. But tune in, who knows what will pop on the screen during the 11:00 news.
"Tim Staudt and Jamie Edmonds are fist-fighting over a studio chair. Wow, either she's tougher than I thought or Tim's a wuss."
Could be fun.
