It's tough to convey to 8 and 9-year old girls the importance of teamwork.  Knute Rockne speeches don't work.  Usually they have a short checklist: show off for mom and dad, remember to ask if they can spend the night at (name here)'s house, and see what the snack is.  But it is easy to fire them up, at least for two minutes, and they all go out to have fun.
