Not Sure What to Make of This

When this guy goes, you don't want to be anywhere near him.

Lately, I've found the whole 24-hour cable news cycle to be akin to a vaudeville act.  Maybe it's because I can spot some of the consultant-driven charades they pull being in the business and all.  But some of these folks just seem to be shouting at me with contempt constantly like Megan Kelly on Fox News.  Or the classic don't-look-you-in-the-eye style of Tony Harris on CNN.  Watch that guy-- he's constantly looking somewhere other than the camera and talking much louder than everyone else.  It's like he's blind and deaf.  Then the teases that sell everything as "A story you cannot miss!"  Now, don't get me wrong, I've said things like "It's a story no parent can miss" but the story is about cribs that fail, or toys that are tainted.  When the cable networks sell it that way, it's about cows that got loose in Denver.  Really?  I couldn't miss that?  And on top of that, you made me wait 22 minutes for it!  Maybe I'm the sap for tuning in that long.  So few seem to be there for the journalistic part of it-- informing me-- without all the fanfare.  Headline News still kind of sticks to that mantra.  I'm coming around on Shep Smith of FNC, despite all the makeup, and Bill Hemmer is OK, although I'm not sure if he just comes off sane since he's sitting next to Megan Kelly-- the vixen with the deadly stare. I'm not talking about jokes or humor, because I love that.  A lot of the folks I mentioned have fun and that's fine.  Obviously, it is, since I have my fair share of fun on a nightly basis.  Not MSNBC fun, which is defined as "smiling and laughing constantly-- even during car accidents and deadly plane crashes."  And that's the NEWS!  I'm not even talking about the crazies-- the pundits and their shows.

This is all leading up to what I saw recently, that-- how can I say this-- made me wonder if psychological was included in the FNC health care plan. I'm not hating on Fox News with this, or on Republicans.  I don't even want to make fun of the fringe because I know a lot of you find comfort in the voices of Keith Olbermann and Bill O'Reilly.  I catch Glenn Beck on occasion when I'm flipping through the channels at work-- both when he was on CNN and now on FNC.  Usually, I'll stop and listen for a second, but like most pundits/talking heads/screaming loud mouths looking for ratings, I can only stand about 18 seconds before I keep moving. This is simply a first-- even for cable news.  Take a look-- and don't subject yourself to all of it-- just go straight to the 8:00 mark and watch for about 45 seconds.  Wow.
