As you may have heard or seen, this year is WILX's 50th on the air. It's also WFMK's 50th year on the air. A couple weeks ago, John Robinson, a guy I've always liked and listened to on the air, called me. I met him for the first time last summer at an event for Sparrow hospice services and we talked about doing something on the air one day. He was calling to collect.
The idea is I will sit in with John for his all-request retro Saturday night from 8-midnight as kind of a co-promotional opportunity for our respective 50th anniversaries. I'm down because I grew up in the 80's and still rock to my favorite tunes from the decade all the time.
If you get a chance, tune in. It should be fun because maybe I'll do some impressions (I'll also take requests for that) and get to play the best 80's song there is. Ladies and gentlemen, Eddie Grant's "Electric Avenue."
