It's Monday and my mind is wandering. Just a few questions I had over the weekend.
1. How many Spartan fans are sellouts?
I put it at about 18,500. At least a quarter of the stadium Saturday was Ohio State fans. For 13 students the prospect of making $100 when season tickets are $140 was just too much I guess. (That's how many garnet shirts I counted in the student section which was all white.) Maybe I'm upset b/c I gave up $70 to have my fingernails torn out, but c'mon, half the upper deck was OSU fans. Yeah, capitalism.
2. Am I the only MTV fan who misses the 80's version where MTV actually stood for music television?
Probably not. Do they even play music anymore? I used to rock out to MTV for hours, b/c THEY PLAYED MUSIC. Now I think you need MTV 3 to see videos. The shows in the 80's played music-- Yo! MTV Raps, Headbanger's Ball, Top 10 Countdown (Yeah, it wasn't always TRL, tweens.) I miss the Ed Lover dance to DJ Kool. I think there should be something illegal about watching some of these "dramas" that border on Teen-Cinemax. And the videos have no imagination like the 80's. All I know is, when my friend said Saturday that one of her favorite shows on all of TV was "The Hills," I longed for the days of Diamond Dave.
3. How short of a memory do Boston Red Sox fans have?
Apparently pretty short. Thursday night, fans started filing out in the 7th inning when they fell behind 7-0 to the Rays in Game 5. Yeah, it's an unlikely comeback from 7 down in the 7th, but this is the team that came back from 3 games to none to beat the Yankees. You were down 3-1 to Cleveland last year and won. Of course, they came back and won dramatically in the 10th, 8-7, won game 6 before losing Game 7 last night. I would never leave a game again if I was a Red Sox fan. But, I'm a Spartan fan and we leave in the 3rd quarter.
