Worst. Song. Ever.

This song is the worst... and it's following me.

Couple of weeks ago, I was in the car and this wacky 80's techno pop song came on, which I didn't recall ever hearing before.  All it seemed to be was the same guy and his backup robots saying "Pop Music" over and over and over.  I changed the channel, but nothing else was on so I kept coming back to this song.  Like four times around the dial this song would not end.  The next week, I hear it again.  Never heard it before and now twice in two weeks.  Then last night around midnight I go into the Lake Lansing Meijer where I only expect to be annoyed by late-night drunks from MSU.*  What do I hear over the store audio system as I go down aisle 3 for some water... "pop, pop, pop music... talk about... pop, pop..."

After doing some digging, I found out this monotone monstrosity actually comes from the disco-era.  It's 1979's "Pop Musik" by the British group M.  Thanks England.  You really could have stopped with the Stones.  Here's the video of it-- and really-- you won't hurt my feelings by not listening to all of it.

*As an aside to my trip to Meijer, I saw one of the funnier things in a while.  A sober student making his way into Meijer with a mountain of beer bottle returns in a shopping cart.  He's holding it with both hands, it's twice as high as he is and it's about 30 different brands, but all beer.  The misery on his face told me two things: He drew the short straw, and everybody else was back at the frat house getting loaded.  I was dying to ask him in my worst goofball accent, "You boys been doin' a little boozin' have ya?"
