Rolling Stone recently had one of the better articles I've ever read on the history of rock. Not only does it list the "100 Greatest Rock Songs of All Time," but it has behind the scenes info on how some of them came to fruition. Like why Slash hated playing "Sweet Child O' Mine" for years and how Tom Morello came up with the riff to "Killing in the Name Of" while giving a guitar lesson. OF course, it's a subjective list and like you, I disagree with some songs on the list and the omission of others, but it's a great read the next time you have a couple minutes.
