The News 10 team equals its win total of the last two years... combined.

Jeff Proctor

Bats - R  Throws - R

Nickname - The Chef

Title - Executive Producer (Yes, Mid-Michigan, THIS is who decides what is and is not news)

Stat line from Game 4... 0-1 BB, Flyout (Not the sexiest of lines from a slow pitch softball game, but this is the guy who complained he was not mentioned last week.  Be careful what you wish for.  I also feel very mean, since he did buy my beer at the bar since I "forgot" my wallet.)

After 4 weeks, News 10 is 3-1 after a convincing 18-3 win.  I just mentioned this equals the win total of the channel 10 team for the last 2 years.  Keep in mind I was not part of those teams.  The difference this year is the girls and Chris Gervat.  Maria Tocco is a solid addition both offensively and defensively.  This week she made a heckuva 5-3 putout to Shelley (who also had a stellar game).  Lauren Zakalik continues to crush the ball and speed around the bases and Andrea can play well when she's not hung over.  Some of us take the games more seriously than others.

Gervat gives this team the big hit threat that wasn't really there in years past.  Everybody else seems to play well, too.   AndyPro stepped in to pitch for the first time this season and was "can't miss", Matt Ondecker, producer, came up with a big hit to drive in some runs and Proctor's aforementioned walk came with the bases loaded, drove in 2 runs and was extremely non-manly.  Z is our usual pitcher who is Mr. Timely Base Hit and Brian Hirten is greased lightning on the base paths and in the outfield.  It's a team that should win the games we should win and has the potential to win some we should not.  Stay tuned to see if that happens.

BTW, 3 weeks until the showdown with the "other" Channel 10 team.  News 10 Sales lost a heart breaker 14-4.  It was 7-4 in the 5th when we showed up to cheer them on.  The other team promptly put up 7 to close it out with a mercy.  They probably think we're a jinx.  There is a lot of talent on that side of the building and it should be a good game June 22.  Come on out and watch.  If we win, drinks are on Mark.

My walk was manly as hell. Did you see the way I stared down the pitcher and intimidated him into throwing the ball away from the strike zone? You would do well to learn from me, sir.

Glad to hear the ol' team is improving. That first year was rough. In fact, the only thing I seem to remember is the season ender at the Chef's house. Keg not pumping and a phone call about one of our co-workers (and fellow teammate who hadn't shown up)was in the slammer. Classic.
