(AP) East Lansing - It was Ladies' Night at the East Lansing Aquatic Center Sunday night as WILX used some timely hitting and big plays in the field to up its record to 2-1.
Jason Colthorp dotted the right field line with 2 on in the first and turned it into a weak homerun and an early 3-0 lead. Chris Gervat blasted a solo shot in the 2nd to make it 4-0 and that's all the WILX-ers would need. A solid outing on the mound from Rob Zwemer, who also put the tag on a "No Name Needed" runner in the 3rd to keep it a scoreless game. Also shining in the field, Lauren Zakalik and Maria Tocco, who completed a 3rd-to-2nd putout to end a threat. Zakalik, Tocco, Becky Camera 2, Andrea Camera 1, and Shelley Z's sister-in-law also had key hits for the winners who got the 6th inning mercy win by a score of 12-1.
All games were rained out last week and no games are scheduled for Memorial Day Weekend so watch for your next wire story in two weeks.
