Dan Ponce has got it all when it comes to the TV news business. Talent, good looks, personality and connections. Still, it was pretty surprising when he left Lansing (Market 112) for a reporter job at WLS Channel 7 in Chicago (Market 3). Usually, reporters leave here for the likes of Flint (Market 66) or Grand Rapids (Market 39) or maybe Milwaukee (Market 33). Dan had some good family connections, but it didn't take long for him to prove he deserved to be working with the big boys. He now works in his hometown with his dad who's a news anchor at another station and now his brother who got a reporter job at another station. He even was a host of the Emmy's there. To say things are going well for DP would be like saying Bill Gates has a few bucks.
Anywho, years earlier, Dan was in a boy-band and was actually chosen to replace N'Sync (or Backstreet Boys, I can never remember) when they left their record label, but something happened and the deal fell through before they ever released an album. He's still in an A Capella group with a bunch of guys called "Straight No Chaser" and long story short, one of their songs on YouTube worked its way around the interwebs to the tune of 7 million views - enough to get the attention of the head of Atlantic Records. He signed them and they are now set to tour this summer. As far as I know, DP is still going to do the TV thing, but the doors they are a opening. Without further ado, here's the video in question. Dan is the guy 5th from the right and has the Toto "Africa" solo. Hilarious.
