Let me start by saying this is not political. I'm not about to tell you who I like for president, because believe it or not-- I like a lot with all three candidates left. There's also a lot I don't like. What I like about Barack Obama is his ability to inspire. My mom used to tell me how inspiring it was to listen to President Kennedy and how he made her want to join the Peace Corps and do more for America-- at age 13. Growing up through things like Iran-Contra ("I don't recall"), Empty promises ("Read my lips... no new taxes"), lies ("I did not have sexual relations with that woman"), and Mission Accomplished, I thought I would never see what my mom saw and heard ever again.
But I was wrong. It doesn't matter what I think about Barack Obama's speech Tuesday regarding race in America. What matters is that you see it and read it.
