Two good opportunities to see the International Space Station overhead. The clear skies tonight and again tomorrow night will give us a good view. Look to the SSW starting at 10:43 this evening. Look about halfway up from the horizon. It will travel to the ENE taking about 5 minutes to pass. Tuesday night will be a bit later at 11:07 PM. The station will be a bit higher in the sky at 67 degrees up from the horizon. The path will move from the WSW to the NE. It will take about 6 minutes to pass. |

Starting sighting it at about 9:58 p.m. moving in a nort westerly direction the nigh was not as clear as Tuesday evening and my neighbor had his outside spot ligh on....for Thursday evning I'm going to a clearer loction away from surface lights.... Posted by: Brian Location: Norton Shores, MI I caught sight of it at 11:10pm Tuesday when it was nearly overhead. Even with plenty of light polution, it appeared as a bright oblong light moving 2 or 3 times faster that a passenger jet at cruising altitude. I was able to view it for about 4 minutes as it continued northeastward to the tree-lined horizon. I'm 47 years old and remember the first moon landing. This is the first time I've ever seen a man-made object in orbit. A very exciting experience! Posted by: Sparky Location: on the Rappahannock River, facing SW Local news tonite said I would see it tonite if I looked SW. Sure enough..what a treat. And, wouldn't you know, no one was here to see it,too. I'm in VA.I was in MA in the '50's when we sent up a satellite, after the Russians had done it. Saw that, too, but had to get up at 2am for that experience. Still remember it. Thanks to all of you, for all of this, for people like me. We do appreciate it. |
