This Weeks Fall Color Report

This weeks fall color report is getting better as fall weather is on the way. The Upper Peninsula has almost all of the color right now. The Northern Lower has some early spotty color.

Western U.P. reports half of the trees with good color. Peak is expected early to mid October slightly later than last year. The Porcupine Mountains State Park in Ontonagon and Van Riper State Park in Ishpeming report 50 to 60% color with plenty of red,orange,and yellow hues. Color development is 15 to 30% in Calumet, Cedar River, Copper Harbor, Crystal Falls, Manistique, Tahquamenon, and the Soo.

In the Northern Lower color is just starting in East Tawas, Harrisville, Mackinaw City, Manistee, Petosky, and Rodgers City. Peak not expected until Mid-October.
