Let's just check how busy this weekend is, even though MSU isn't busy with home events on Friday. Hockey is at Miami of Ohio for two games so that won't cause much of a stir around here and volleyball is on the road for two matches as well.
It's senior day at CMU, Michigan and Michigan State on Saturday. So those are big events and of course the Wolverines, Chips and Spartans all figure to have competitive games, although one would think Michigan will beat Iowa. Kick off for MSU and Michigan both at noon. MSU will introduce 13 playing seniors at 11:47 am before the game.
The Pistons host Orlando Friday and Boston Sunday looking for some traction after winning their first game of the season this week at Philadelphia. The high school volleyball finals include Lakewood at Kellogg Arena in Battle Creek at 4pm Saturday against North Branch. Figure on Lakewood winning.
The semi-finals in the state football tournament are Saturday-- involving Ithaca, Pewamo-Westphalia, Portland and DeWitt. My guess is DeWitt will lose and the others win sending them to Ford Field for the finals in Detroit next Friday and Saturday.
The Lions have three straight home games, all tough. They host Green Bay at 1pm Sunday and the turnaround is quick for a 12:30pm start Thursday against Houston. Wow what a busy time of year!
