I'm sitting here working in the office on a Wednesday afternoon, and the Big Ten Network is airing last year's Michigan at Michigan State game. Man, what a ton of dirty plays. Michigan State has just been called for its 13th penalty. Another personal foul and Denard Robinson is being helped off the field... again. Michigan didn't make a big deal of these incidents at news conferences earlier this week, but I wonder how much the Wolverines remember the game in East Lansing and not just because of the final score.
William Gholston was suspended for a week after this game for two flagrant fouls. But, others were involved in personal fouls like Marcus Rush for a late hit on Robinson which knocked him out with a few minutes to play. I'm sure Michigan had its share of plays too, but since the Spartans won these plays got plenty of scrutiny from announcers like Chris Spielman.
Michigan players this week said "it's football" when asked what they remembered about all the tough plays. Whether they pick up where they all left off this Saturday in Ann Arbor or not remains to be seen.
