By the end of the summer, Fishers, Indiana's Gary Harris may well make up his mind about a college for his basketball careeer's next move. Harris is 6-5 and sought after by a number of schools and Michigan State hopes to complete its class with Harris. Indiana is also working hard for Harris, whose parents attended Purdue, but the Boilermakers don't appear to be as much in the running as the Spartans and the Hoosiers do at this point.
MSU already has Denzel Valentine, Kenny Kaminski and Matt Costello in the fold so Harris, or someone else, would round out the class. And the MSU coaches are busy looking at other players for down the line, including one in Chicago and one in Minnesota but they know the competition is fierce. Harris would be a good get and keep the Spartans most likely elite in the sport. It is Tom Izzo's driven goal to win a second national title as he begins his 17th season as head coach this fall. There will be plenty of newcomers in the lineup this coming season and expectations won't be as high as they have been in the past, but perhaps the Spartans will develop faster than people thinking setting up the following year with four more quality freshmen arriving to the Breslin Center.
