So who wins the Michigan State/Notre Dame game Saturday? Around here you can get any number of differing predictions. Notre Dame is a five point favorite. The locals all like MSU's chances because of course they want the Spartans to win and they've had luck with the Irish in previous years-- Mark Dantonio has a 3-1 record. The national analysts all can't believe Notre Dame is an 0-3 team and will therefore rise up and beat Michigan State also considering there is a payback element to the fake field goal last year in overtime in East Lansing.
Me? I try to eliminate listening to anyone who has a rooting interest. Some who root for Notre Dame pick against the Irish because they are disgusted with the mistakes of the first two games and figure they'll just continue because this is a wasted season already.
It's hard for me to figure Notre Dame loses this, especially because it is in South Bend. In East Lansing I'd think it's a real toss up. I haven't seen Michigan State in a big game, let alone on the road yet so that makes it tougher. The games are usually exciting and creative, just like last Saturday's game in Ann Arbor. I know one thing-- the Irish really need a victory -- Brian Kelly has an 8-7 record as head coach and heck Charlie Weis had those kinds of numbers and he got fired.
