Branden Dawson's injury Sunday obviously hurts Michigan State's post season basketball hopes but to what degree remains to be seen. He is a very gifted player with a bright future and he was heavily recruited. He was getting better through the season and I don't think this is a question of someone else stepping up-- others will try their hardest but their talent does not rival Dawson's in my book.
So what happens to the Spartans now? Hard to say. The other players will obviously have to play well and everyone gets a new look the rest of the way because home court advantages are now gone for everyone. All the Spartans can do is get past whatever disappointment still lingers from the Ohio State game and simply resolve to play their best the rest of the season and see what that brings. The final record will be more glittering than a year ago and with promising recruits due on the scene later this year the future is still bright-- and Dawson eventually will be back and he'll be a key in years to come.
