I can't remember a worse week for a major college sports team than what it's been for Penn State. A week ago, the Nittany Lions were in a bye week after beating Illinois and standing at 8-1 and feeling good. A week later the world is turned upside down. Friday someone vandalized Jerry Sandusky's home in State College. Rocks through the windows. No suspects. He's the alleged culprit in all this. Joe Pa is gone, Mike McQueary can't coach on the sidelines-- too many death threats. Nebraska fans asked not to wear their school colors at the game Saturday. It's not supposed to be like this. Some speculate Joe Pa himself could still be subject to charges.
There is no end in sight and who knows how much damage Penn State will receive long term. I've never seen anything like it. Week to week you never know in college sports, but this trumps them all. Even the latest scholarship losses at Ohio State this week played a backseat to Penn State. What happens next week?
