Jack Wallace could have been named head football coach at Okemos High School long before April 25th, but the search is over and he's a good fit for the job in my judgment. Wallace lives with his family in Okemos and has had his eye on a job like Okemos if it ever opened. Paul Palmer had enough after last season, his seventh and now Wallace gets his chance to build a program that has been up and down over the years.
Football at Okemos has never been as good as other sports and Wallace needs to increase the number of players who want to try out early in their prep careers. He needs numbers-- Okemos didn't even field a JV team a couple of years ago. But Wallace is no rookie-- he has plenty of experience-- 31 years at Fowlerville where he had a hall of fame career. He was inducted into the Michigan shrine in 2007.
Wallace also needs a strong staff of assistants and while he might have had more time to prepare in this off season he can now hit the ground running with more than a month of the school year remaining. The CAAC Blue adds another tough coach in Jack Wallace.
