Carlton Valentine says his basketball coaching days are not over. He told me earlier Wednesday on the radio. The Sexton High School boys coach resigned yesterday after seven seasons and I am convinced he is simply burned out. He didn't have the energy for another season. But he told me he plans to coach again "at the next level." He has no specifics nor a timetable either. In the meantime he'll continue to give private lessons to budding area high school players at the Michigan Athletic Club which he has done for the past couple of years.
Valentine is pushing for his assistant to be promoted to the Sexton job but adds quickly he does not have a say in such a decision. He'll watch his son play for Michigan State this winter and he told me when Denzel asks for coaching help he gives it, but does not offer it either.
