There won't be much continuity to the Diamond Classic this year-- rain has wiped out two straight days of doubleheaders. The weather should be good Friday for the Cooley Law School quarter-final set of DeWitt vs. Portland followed by Holt against Bath. The first game begins at 5:30pm and since it is a holiday and the weather should be good and the Lugnuts stadium is the site, there could be a good crowd.
That will knock the field down to six teams and play resumes June 3-4-5 providing there are no more weather issues. The final game on June 5th will now be played at Kircher/Municipal Park since Cooley will be in use by the Lugnuts. Too bad, although it's a trip back in time since many of the 52 Diamond Casslic title games have been played at Muni. Grand Ledge and Lansing Catholic won't make their tournament debuts until June and it could mean three games in three nights for teams who may also have the Regionals in the State tournament coming up the following Saturday. It will be a mighty busy early June for a couple of area teams to be sure.
