Tigers Need Not Fret To Open Season

Okay so the Detroit Tigers do not begin the regular season Monday with an established closing relief pitcher. What's to worry? The Tigers are still the overwhelming favorite in the Central Division. Who among the others-- Kansas City, Cleveland, Chicago and Minnesota-- has the talent to overtake the Tigers? Even without an established closer to start the year the Tigers are better than those four across a 162-game schedule. Remember, deals are made throughout the year and Bruce Rondon, who has been sent to Toledo for more seasoning, could back up in the major leagues in a short while. And the trade deadline in July also yields players who can help contenders. It's a brutally long season and rosters change all the time so how the Tigers start doesn't mean that the roster will be exactly that way by the time the playoffs begin in the fall.
