Tigers Are Still A L Central Favorites

The Detroit Tigers, as I see it, are still favorites to repeat as American League Central Division champions in 2012.  It would be different if they lost Justin Verlander.  Losing Victor Martinez is tough, but not impossible to overcome.  The division, as usual, doesn't have much.  It's hopeless at Kansas City, as it is every year.  Cleveland, Minnesota and Chicago are not that much more improved, although the White Sox appear to be the best of those three.  I just think the Tigers are better.

And the Tigers will make roster moves all season long.  Surely they'll make a deal at the July 31st trade deadline and last year adding a pitcher and outfielder like they did was key to their capturing their first divisional crown in 24 years.  I don't know if they'll win the World Series-- and yet the St. Louis Cardinals did it without seemingly being a whole lot better than the Tigers last fall.  Martinez' loss is tough, but I don't think it ruins the season.  We'll see.
