This will be a different type of fall for sports fans across Michigan. Both the Tigers and Lions have fans excited. The Pistons are gone for awhile and they weren't any good anyway. The Red Wings will be good, but it's too early for hockey also. The Lions have won 10 straight games if you count four during the pre season. They play at Minnesota Sunday where they've lost 13 straight times. But that was then and this is now and the Lions are 3 1/2 point favorites to end that streak. Just think they could actually start their season with a 3-0 record.
And the Tigers are angling for home field advantage through at least a portion of the playoffs. They caught fire after the All-Star break and were the hottest team in baseball. Can they get to the World Series? Why not? Who else scares you? I don't see anyone. The Phillies would be a World Series favorite, if they get there, right? Two teams from Detroit, both exciting, both with big dreams and wild fans and that doesn't even take into account the thrills Michigan and Michigan State football might add this fall as well. What a great sports season in Michigan!
