Sports Observations While on Vacation

Back from nine days away to various stops in Northern Michigan:

Saw the last two rounds of the PGA championship.  When they both play their best, which is rare of course, Rory McIlroy is better than Tiger Woods these days.  But Woods was still better in his prime.  Now where do they both go from here?  And who in the world is the PGA player of the year?  Yet to be determined but Woods could win it for his overall play.

I can't believe ESPN devotes so much programming time to the Little League World Series.  It's one thing to carry the final game-- but all of these other games-- who cares?

Golf courses in northern Michigan seem crowded, more so this summer than I can remember.  Maybe the economy isn't that bad after all.  A record year so far in the 125th anniversary year of Grand Hotel.  Five empty rooms total for August-- 97 per cent occupancy rate coming at the moment for September.

And how long did it take to play the Lions game the other night in Baltimore?  Nearly four hours?  Ridiculous for any game let alone an NFL pre season game.
