Sports Don't Mean Much on Election Night

It only happens once every four years-- Presidential election night. And I've been through ten of them now while on television. They're all the same-- it's a work night but you don't do much more than eat the food brought in for the people assigned to do the most work. It's hectic like our Friday night high school football nights are hectic. High stress, very competitive and time is tight. And maybe it's tougher in news because more people are involved and the more involved the better chance for problems.

But when things go well it's great and a terrific feeling of accomplishment. The Pistons play Election night-- who knows why and frankly who cares too? The Pistons are 0-3. MSU is practicing football despite having a bye week, but at 5-5 do many really care on election night? Oh there will be a sportscast, but don't blink or you'll miss it. Because the tight presidential race is what people are yearning to know about.
