It's been 3 1/2 months since big time college basketball practices formally began and it's at this time of year I see teams worn down. And there's still nearly two months to go to the Final Four. It's almost become a battle of survival for teams and players any more over the long season. Michigan State is relieved Draymond Green does not have a serious knee injury suffered at Illinois on Tuesday but there's no word on when he'll be back in the lineup or when he might play at his full capacity. And the Spartans have a toughie at home Sunday at 1pm against Michigan.
And Green isn't the only ailing Spartan. Brendan Dawson is battling some tendinitis issues in a knee and Travis Trice missed practices last week with a lower body injury that hasn't been fully diagnosed. He played sparingly at Illinois. The Spartans, like any other team, can't afford injuries to key players at this time of the year and who knows who's playing at less than 100 per cent. But Green is a key and he didn't produce much at Illinois and consequently the Spartans only scored 41 points in their loss.
