Spartans Simply Need Touchdowns!

Touchdowns.  Michigan State needs 'em in droves.  They have scored 14 offensive touchdowns in their first eight games.  That's less than two per game and maybe MSU is fortunate to be 4-4 with such an anemic offense.  We can break it down further.  Seven of the 14 were against CMU and Indiana, two of the weaker teams anywhere.

In the four losses, MSU has all of three touchdowns.  It's simple to me.  All of those offensive stars from last year have not been replaced.  This team just does not have the firepower of a year ago and I don't know how much better it will get by the end of this season.  MSU is capable, in my judgment, of just about anything in the final four games-- at Wisconsin, home with Nebraska and Northwestern and at Minnesota.

The schedule lets up next year and Andrew Maxwell will have had a season of experience.  The load will be lighter and the results likely much better next fall.  That's how I see it and maybe people should not be so shocked given the players MSU has lost.
